The core of it was formed way back when I started the first book. Since then it has been through multiple iterations. The basic idea though came in one big go quite early on.

I am lucky enough to have a dedicated space to write (a studio in my garden). I have found on days when I feel I can't write or am struggling, by just sitting in there and not panicking, I start typing. That is one of the main things actually. Don't wait for 'inspiration;. Writing is hard work. Just sit and tap and edit, edit later. I heard it said recently that you need to write fast too. It helps to outrun the fear we ALL HAVE!

Advice seems a little early as I have only written two books. In my limited experience it's important to write often (I aim for every day) and read a lot. I now have multiple books on the go and listen to audiobooks during any dead time (gym, car etc) It's a great way to speak ideas and it improves your writing without even thinking about it.

Nothing compares to a good days writing. It brings a creative buzz and a sense of the world being 'right' somehow.

I'm a planner so don't seem to get writer's block as such. I suffer from something similar but it tends to be linked with plot, conflict and logic. By that I mean struggling with what a character would logically do next and keeping the story exciting. Once I know that, the writing bit happens (with varying degrees of quality : )
