Very hard question! I have many recommendations, so be sure to check out my "Favorites" shelf, but for #1, I'd have to go with The Hunger Games. It has such a rich, wonderful writing style and a lot more depth than I expected.

Great question, Abra! I'll go with a recent favorite, Amari and the Night Brothers by B.B. Alston. Such a fabulous read!

Thank you for your support! I have a street team and an editor I work with already, but if you are interested in opportunities to help out, keep an eye on my blog. :)

Thank you for asking, Sarah! I've missed writing too. ;) There are a couple in the second draft works, and I'm preparing for a new edition of Kiera. I'll have more updates on my blog soon.

Awesome question, Sarah! It's a little too early to tell in this stage, but I'm thinking it might be The Twin Arrows book #3.

Kate Willis
Ooooo! This question made me hungry. XD I like milk chocolate the best, though dark chocolate and white chocolate certainly do have a purpose in this world. :D Great question, Rachel!

I currently don't have plans to publish anything new this year (except Sincerely, Jem paperbacks and maybe a short story ;) ), so I believe the earliest anything could come out is Spring 2021. I'm taking this year to write new stories and move forward with some works-in-progress. ;) Thanks for asking!

Great question, Becca. When I'm facing a creative block, a (short!) time of rest and renewal by working with one of my other hobbies or experiencing someone else's art always makes me feel more creative. And a good brainstorm and some prayer for help often help me push forward. ;) As far as who inspires me to keep writing... My siblings, my penpal who often gets to read my stories first, and my readers who are eager for the next story. ;)

Thanks for asking, Bethani! Yes, my older sister Perry Kirkpatrick (she also writes under the name Denver Evans) is a prolific author, and my brother Paul has some works published as well. Several of my younger sisters have works-in-progress, so maybe we'll see something published from them in the future. :D
Bethani Theresa
Perry Kirkpatrick had the Indie Black Friday sale😊. I bought a book that I had been looking forward to for awhile.

Thanks for asking, Sarah, and I'm glad you liked it. :D The wordcount is about 900. ;)

I would either go to Neverland because Peter could always use a bit of mothering, or I'd go to Gallifrey and steal myself a T.A.R.D.I.S. because... time travel. :D

Wow, great question, E.F.B., and one I find somewhat hard to answer. ;) My story ideas are a combination of experiences, both mine and ones I observe; my favorite things; characters that walk into my brain and demand a story; and truths God is teaching me.

I've always loved the medieval and fantasy genres, but I'd say that The Shield Ring by Rosemary Sutcliff and the Robin Hood tales were specifically inspiring to me, at least for these projects. ;) Thanks for asking, Mary!
Mary Herceg
Hurray for those two stories! Rosemary Sutcliff is my favorite--and you still need to read Eagle of the Ninth someday. :)

Great question, Averey! My family culture of loving books and my own problem of running out of them led me to start writing, and my sister Perry Kirkpatrick has been my inspiration to become a published author.
Kate Willis
Thanks for asking, Libby May! I've always loved writing, but I got serious about publishing my books when I was eighteen or nineteen.
Kate Willis
Rainy days, hands down! I find the poetic melancholy of them highly inspiring. Which is your favorite, Bethani?
Kate Willis
Great question, Malachi! I do really like my main character Gavynn, but my other favorite character has to be Farren. She was a joy to write in her quiet strength and unexpected skill.
Kate Willis
This is a great question, Ejayen, and one I've never thought about before. Either one is fantastic--one means you'll be enjoying the books forever and the other means that you felt the stories were worth passing on (or you just needed more shelf space ;) ).
Kate Willis
Thanks for asking, Kaitlyn! I'd say, mainly, take notes throughout the writing/publishing process of who has helped and encouraged you along the way. Sometimes, especially when there is so much to do, it's easy to forget those small yet meaningful interactions. If you're planning to write multiple books, it can be helpful to have a "format" of how you are going to write your acknowledgments. I love to write mine out in a list, with the name of the person (or group!) coming first and what I'm thanking them for after. And last, but not least, have fun with it! Those of us who get to read your acknowledgments love the joyful, inside jokes you share with your supportive community, whether or not we can understand them. ;)

I love this question, Amanda. It's one I've been asking myself somewhat lately. ;) Right now, I'm working on a draft of a secret project I'll be announcing soon. After that, I have a dystopian novella ready for rewriting and a fantasy novel I'm excited to begin.
