Matthew W. Harrill I just thought one day: 'What if Hell was actually freezing over? What would be the consequences?' A 2 hour brain storm with my mentor David Farland, and I haven't stopped writing and creating in 2 1/2 years.
Matthew W. Harrill It all started from a map - a friend and I created a map of a mountain region, and I used it to create a world that ended up so huge it covered one bedroom of my house: The Nine Duchies. It was the world of The Tome of Law, an epic fantasy series that I wrote a couple of books for a decade back. That series never ended. I quit half way through book 3.
Matthew W. Harrill Hellbeast; The ARC Chronicles Part 3 - the final part in this trilogy.

I also have ideas a-brewin' for another trilogy, and I have a small pet project I have been working on with a very wonderful author friend of mine.
Matthew W. Harrill Use EVERYTHING at your disposal. Research diligently. If you are writing fantasy, ensure the world you create is not created as you are writing. It has to exist for you to be able to write in it. Find your Unique Selling Point - that which makes you different from the other writers out there. Don't expect instant returns. It doesn't work that way. And most important of all, be prepared to accept constructive criticism and don't see it as just criticism. For the most part, people are just trying to help.
Matthew W. Harrill For me it is viewing the world in a totally different way whenever I am in the process of writing. The creative inspiration I get from the mere process keeps me well chilled, and helps immensely with the day job too! I could best describe it as being on a high borne of imagination.
Matthew W. Harrill My honest advice from the experience I have had, is to find a Polish woman who won't take no for an answer, demands to understand why, if you are capable of writing, that you are in fact NOT writing, and makes you feel completely inadequate for not being able to provide a decent answer! It works wonders.
