Thanks Kacey for the read and encouragement, which I can use after someone gave me a single star for getting the caliber of the bullet wrong in the pistol I referenced and called a combat rifle an assault rifle... yikes! But I am greatful he pointed that out to correct it.... As a first attempt at writing, I just wanted to get something out there to understand the process of self-publishing... there are lots of mistakes in that story being the author, editor, promoter, agent and distributor.... but I love what I’m doing....
I am currently working on a full length novel called Silversides..... which is/has been kicking my butt for about 4 years now. I love the characters and storyline but I made the fatal rookie author mistake of leaving the planet... because I have to invent everything... that’s why all aliens come to earth to kick our asses... so the authors do not need to invent anything.....
In the mean time, I have written several shorts that I hope to compile into an anthology (these can be found on wattpad). I don’t know if you read “From Europa With Love” (free on Amazon) but I have dragged the protagonist. (Kulcin Black) into Silversides as the antagonist... why? I don’t know and maybe why it is such a challenge. Thanks again.

It happened so fast, being pulled off the rocks into the water, hardly time to hold my breath as I was dragged downward by dozens of arms, turning and spinning me, folding me into a ball before being berthed into a spherical chamber. I could now see, but the scope of it made me vomit, finding myself in a viscous soup of blood and the empty skins of other humans like wet sweaters clinging to me and beyond the walls of my bubble there were others and others beyond those until the string disappeared into the murk. (Excerpt from a WIP - HUM)

Kulcin Black & Belle Power in the novella, From Europa With Love. Ok... I admit... I wrote From Europa With Love, but I wrote it based upon the relationship Ripley and Dallas had in Alien. I knew Dallas was going to protect Ripley at any cost and it cost him his life. I wanted that same relationship in my characters, and I think I achieved that.

Two things. The first is to watch/listen to Elizabeth Gilbert's TED lecture. She was the author of Eat, Pray, Love which was highly successful and she was worried she would never top it. This was so inspirational to me at a time I felt blocked.

It takes the pressure off of you and I so subscribe to her experience
Secondly, start a side project. Write about an event in your life that brings fond memories. I did exactly this while I was writing my first full-length novel Silversides which is getting closer to publication. The side project I started turned out to be a successful novella, November Seed.

I know this sounds odd, but, I get to read what I really want to read.

My current, most focused work in progress is Silversides. It is an epic sci-fi novel about humans invading a planet. I have a few other works in progress, one being a short story called, Cellular Automata, that I will put out here. I am also excited about another couple of novels called Glycerine, which is a true Android love story done like no other and a kinky artistic sci-fi called (5)tream that I can't wait to start.

I always had quite an imagination and wanted to share that.

I grew up at the Jersey Shore and was surrounded by Phragmites. In college, I studied Marine and Environmental Sciences, at Stockton College, and understood the life cycles of many plants and animals. Every November, in the NE, The purple plums of Phragmites release all their seeds at once. I look forward to that day every year. I thought, "Now that would make for a great sci-fi.... An alien seed dispersal system...."
