Ooh, that is a very good question!
I think that would have to be Fagan and the Artful Dodger, from Carles Dicken's Oliver Twist. Fagan was a villain who exploited the children he cared for, with the Artful Dodger being his star protegee. Although Fagan' kept the ill-gotten gains derived from 'his' children's pickpocketing, I believe he genuinely cared for the boys and in particular Artful Dodger (at least as portrayed in the 1968 Musical film version) :)

The characters jump into my head and refuse to leave until they are developed. Due to time restraints, they are usually sitting their patiently tapping their fingers metaphorically speaking, waiting and waiting for me to find time to give them life...

I was driving by a new development in the town of Sidney where I live and saw a moving van bringing furniture to the new home. this sparked the thought, i wonder where the people have come from and what is their motive (their story) for the pending move and from there the idea was born for my book...
