The book I'm currently working on is a time travel (time slip) involving a cruise and the steamboat Arabia from 1856. I got that idea from a cruise I took with my best friend. The cruise boat had a retro decor including an antique-looking mailbox. The floors also skipped from 12 to 14. Where was the 13th floor? How mysterious. This got my wheels turning and Braving Strange Waters developed.

I get tons of writing ideas from the children's section of our local library. You can often find me there while my children are looking for books to check out. I'll be sitting cross-legged on the floor with a dozen non-fiction picture books sprawled out around me searching for my next story idea.

These three books (The Mercy Series) have dual modern day and historical fiction story lines, both of which are deeply impacting.
