Susan Catalano I would say the obvious - writing. But my favorite part is revising. I know that sounds crazy, especially when it could take several revisions before I feel I can even send a manuscript to an editor.

To me, revising is when you get to the art of writing. When I first get words down on the page, it's sometimes just stream of consciousness. When I sit down to revise, I'm applying conscious consideration of each and every word, tone, and pace. That's what I love.
Susan Catalano Wine.

Also, music. I listen to songs that set the tone I'm seeking and see what my characters come up with. For The Timeless Ones, I listened to Ash's Twilight of the Innocents, Civil Twilight's Letters From the Sky, and The Naked and the Famous's Young Blood (both original and Renholder mix) to name a few.

But definitely wine.
Susan Catalano Sting's "Fields of Barley" came on the radio and I got this image of a woman standing in a field... waiting. From there, I wondered who she was waiting for and what would happen when that person arrived. Then all my visits to Salem spun the idea into The Timeless Ones. It started that small.
Susan Catalano I'm working on the sequel to the The Timeless Ones. It's a two-book series, and I'm more than 1/2 way through the first draft. The beginning and ending are done - I just need to fill in all the good stuff in the middle!
