It was my debut novel and I never thought I’d find someone to publish it, and will remain eternally grateful to New Pulp Press for taking a chance on my work, as it covers everything. I equate it with a band’s debut album. They want to put everything that has influenced them up to that point into their work and that is exactly what I’ve done.

Don’t aspire to become a writer, just tell yourself ‘I am a writer’. When I left university and told everyone I was going to give writing a go I immediately began telling everyone that was what I was. No one believed me apart from my own nervous self but now I have a novel published so can definitely say I am a writer. If it chooses you to write then that’s what you’ve got to do.

I love how creating feels, I love seeing people react to my words, I love completing a story and thinking that it’s the best thing I’ve written.

Writer’s block has never really affected me that badly and on the couple of occasions it’s struck I’ve just sat down and bashed something out until I’m happy that I’ve written through the phase.
