Don’t aspire to become a writer, just tell yourself ‘I am a writer’. When I left university and told everyone I was going to give writing a go I immediately began telling everyone that was what I was. No one believed me apart from my own nervous self but now I have a novel published so can definitely say I am a writer. If it chooses you to write then that’s what you’ve got to do.
