Kathryn Heaney I'd probably want to go to New Orleans and enter the world of Dark Hunters - maybe find one I would want to return their soul to... Sherrilyn Kenyon creates the best tales of the night. By the way, a were hunter would do, too, lol.
Kathryn Heaney Deadmen Walking by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and I believe Nora Roberts has a new book coming out. I also want to read the next Darynda Jones Novel. I also have a list of older novels, that I took off the internet - I'm looking to expand the authors I follow.
Kathryn Heaney Sorry I missed this, as I wasn't on my computer yesterday. I hope you made the workshop. If not, I will be doing again at the Kenilworth branch on May 18 at 6:30. Hope you make it to one of the workshops!
Kathryn Heaney The case of the missing sock(s)! Sound intriguing? Two go into the wash every week, but mysteriously only one comes out. Is there some magical force at work? Do I have a poltergeist? Or is there some diabolical plot by washing machine companies? What could their purpose be in the collection of single socks? Their sinister applications make the mind reel. And I understand I am not the only one...
Kathryn Heaney There are too many couples that are favorites. Pick up any of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter novels at the beginning of her series (books 1 through 9), and I fall for each couple in the books. The couples are different, yet their stories are compelling. This is probably my favorite series - although it's a close tie with Karen Marie Moning's Highlander and Fever series. Again, I'm sucked in to the Highlander couples, then Karen introduces Mac and Barrons in the Fever series (I'm not into them quite as much as a couple, as their story is drawn out and you aren't sure where their relationship is heading).

So many great couples, one cannot possibly choose...
Kathryn Heaney If you never write, you'll never know what you can do. Explore. Try different approaches to writing with small stories. One of my favourite challenges is to enter the annual short story contest that Polar Expressions offers to Canadian writers. It's very challenging to keep within their 750 word limit. Every summer I try to write something very different. I've done a paranormal-romance, a story from the perspective of a 15 year-old boy, one from a 50+ single woman, and my last story was from the perspective of aliens who have watched out planet's movies and speak only in movie quotes. If your story is chosen, they will include it in a book of Canadian Short Stories. So far, they have published all my stories.
Kathryn Heaney Inspiration comes from my imagination, ideas others put into my head, things I see, from other authors, from situations my characters get themselves into - LOL! I always know how my story is going to start and how it is going to end. What happens in the middle is a complete mystery to me. It's fascinating to see what predicaments my characters get into. I have spent many family car rides up to visit my in-laws brainstorming with my daughters after I explain to them the corner I have written my characters into. Sometimes I have to scrap some of what I have written and start over again. Sometimes someone comes up with a brilliant solution...
Kathryn Heaney Currently I am working on Destiny Fulfilled, the third book in the Anandrian Series. This is a fun book, as the magic of Anandria is spilling out onto Earth, and Lucifer, with his dragons and gargoyles, are terrorizing downtown Toronto. I just wrote a scene where a dragon is emptying out an underground parking lot, and is piling the cars on Bloor Street so he can nest during the day.
Kathryn Heaney When I write I become very invested in my characters. I can't believe how reluctant I am to put them in harms way when I really like them. For me writing is as good as reading a great novel - I get emotionally involved and live through different experiences with the characters. And of course, the BEST thing is, I get to fantasize and make the story happen the way I want it to happen. LOL!
Kathryn Heaney If nothing is coming easily, I usually walk away from the story and take the dog for a walk. It's amazing what pops into your head while you're walking. Sometimes the solution comes at night in my dreams. There's always paper and pencil next to my bed - or I'll forget all about it in the morning. And... if I have written a character into a corner, I throw it out there to friends and family. We have great brainstorming sessions - some are quite entertaining.
Kathryn Heaney I wrote this story for my eldest daughter, Laura when she was in grade 5. She wanted a magical story since I had written a very short story for her little sister that had a dragon in it. So, I made her a university art student (not realizing she would grow up to be a practicing artist - she did the cover art for this book). In the story, she paints a picture of a place she sees in her dreams. As she puts the last brush stroke on the picture, her hand goes through and someone on the other side pulls her into another dimension, called Anandria. Many years later, I rewrote this story as an adult paranormal/romance.
