Gavin Ough The mystery of how my mother and I fell out and why she no longer speaks to me.
Gavin Ough It's just become a part of my life now, I love it and can't see my life without writing something.
Gavin Ough I'm not sure if I've ever had it, but there were a few times writing The Spaces in Between when I just thought, "I can't do this today." When that happened, I either tried to write something else or stopped completely and did something entirely different.

Later the same day or on the following day, I come back to it afresh and find there is no problem. It's very rare I can't write anything.

Gavin Ough I can get to work at home and see my youngest daughter grow up, a privilege I never had with my older two as I was out working, sometimes fifteen hours a day.
Gavin Ough Do NOT, ever, for a second, give up. If you think it's worth writing someone thinks it's worth reading.

However, make sure your work is as polished and as finished as it can be before considering it for publication. I still read self-published works with silly spelling mistakes and incorrect character names (I've done that myself!).

Try to get at least one friend or family member to read what you've written as a fresh pair of eyes can make all the difference.
Gavin Ough The follow up to The Spaces in Between, which is called the Plight Of Lavash.

Once again, this will be a result of an episodic story written for Serealities. The serial has one more episode to go as I write this (16/08/2014) and is available to read for free at www.serealities.com along with numerous other works by talented authors.

I also have a book on a site called Newbbay called Carjin's Revenge under the Fantasy banner. The first five chapters are free to read and you don't have to sign up, so avoiding those million or so emails advertising stuff you can't live without. As yet it's not finished but with enough interest, I'll complete the beast.
Gavin Ough I came up with it quite a while ago and it just sat, gestating in my brain, until I discovered Serealities wanted writers and sent them a submission. One of the team thought The Spaces in Between featured a completely new concept and advised I expand on it.

I'm not sure quite where ideas come from, often I'll be writing something else or reading and "What if x was to happen?" just jumps out of nowhere.

I mainly see scenes, usually the exciting or action packed bits which I then have to link or create a background as to why 'x' happened. That's the more challenging aspect as the scenes just appear but then I have to decide which scene goes where.
