Do NOT, ever, for a second, give up. If you think it's worth writing someone thinks it's worth reading.
However, make sure your work is as polished and as finished as it can be before considering it for publication. I still read self-published works with silly spelling mistakes and incorrect character names (I've done that myself!).
Try to get at least one friend or family member to read what you've written as a fresh pair of eyes can make all the difference.
