Dan King Dear Dave, I am deeply saddened to learn of the loss of your father. My wife and I enjoyed hearing his early experiences in WWII, about the incredible family history and deep California roots in our country’s history. We still have the bottle of Machado Wine that he gave us after he gave us a tour of the majestic historical building. He was indeed a gracious, multi-talented, multi-faceted, brilliant man. We enjoyed listening to his self-playing piano, too. What a rare treat that was.

My next book will be about the Ohka “Baka Bombs” used by the Japanese in 1945. Your father’s unique visual observation of on Ohka attack is part of the story. If you will a way to contact you I will send you a copy when it is finished.

My wife and I moved from Irvine to Texas in 2015 shortly after my father passed away. My 4th book (publisher July 2018) was about my dad’s time in a North korean POW camp.

My Ohka “Baka Bomb” book is now the main focus of my attention.

My sincere condolences to your family on your loss.

Today, on this Memorial Day we will be thinking of, and saying a prayer for, Mr. Fred Mechado,

Dan King
