Bill Garwin The sequel to Gone Wrong. I'm going to play with immigration and legalized drugs. Character development and maturation will guide everything.
Bill Garwin Be careful of "advice for aspiring writers". I was advised by a published author to simply sit and write. Worst advice ever. I need an extensive outline to push start me and allow me to play within it's boundries. Although it sounds contradictory, the outline gives me freedom. I believe every author has to find her own style and methods, whether it be outlines, freestyle, story boards or whatever.
Bill Garwin I enjoy words and storytelling. Being a writer allows me to play with both. I have fun constructing the words, sentences and paragraphs. The technical aspect of writing. I'm very critical of everything I write and the writing of other authors. However, probably more important is the other aspect of writing: storytelling. I practice on anyone who will listen to me or read what I write. I've read many authors unskilled at word construction who succeed simply because they are wonderful storytellers.
Bill Garwin I write vignettes. I search my outline for something that interests me at the time. I'll write it as if independent of everything else, as if a separate story. I usually get pretty good stuff. Probably 1,000 words I can plug in later.
