Tee Michaels Never work on a schedule. In fact, there should be no such thing. A good novel takes time, research takes time, molding characters, developing scenes and plots take time.

If you get stuck trying to develop something such as a particular plot or scene, take a break. Go camping for the weekend, spend the evening with friends ... do something to relax. Stop focusing so hard and allow the simple things of life to inspire you again. Sooner or later, something will "come" to you. When you least expect it, it'll "hit" you, and the entire schene or plot or even the entire book will suddenly fall into place.

Tee Michaels Research. Research. Research. Make sure you know what you're talking about before you write about it. Readers are very intelligent people. Don't take that for granted.

Also, if you're going to use an agent as I did with my first book, Accuser Of The Brethren, make sure you print the words "not for resale" on all the signed copies that said agent will be sending out for you. Otherwise, those copies may end up in bookstores around the world (like Accuser is now) with a single copy selling for as much as $400.00 ... with you receiving zero amounts in royalties. It's what I call a legal steal. Be careful.
Tee Michaels As a writer, I can do things through my characters that I would or could never do in real life. I can add to life, take away from it, or change it entirely. Writing offers a way of escape into fascinating worlds of adventure with the most interesting people.
Tee Michaels I am often inspired by music. A certain song, whether it's tone or lyrics, can set the course for an entire story to evolve within a matter of moments. Of course, developing that story can take months.
Tee Michaels My most recent book, Strands Of Humanity, deals with the issues of justice, or the lack thereof, for victims of violent crimes. With our court systems of today protecting the rights of criminals above the rights of their casualties and the cries for equity rising, I decided to explore the world of private justice and the consequences thereof.

Would you do it? Could you live with it? What happens if it all goes wrong?
