The best thing about being a writer is getting a review from someone who really liked the story. Sure, writing is fun, but if no one reads it or enjoys it, then it's just a hobby. Telling stories is more than just a hobby for me. I want to touch people's lives with the lives of others I create within my books. I want people to fall in love with the people in my books. I want them to ship this person with that person by writing their own fan-fiction versions of my stories. If I can do that, then that is the most awesome reward ever of being a writer and storyteller.

The Awakened Series began as a short story romance about seven years ago. I wrote the romance as something that I thought would be equally enjoyable for both sexes to read. Most romances are written by women for women. It was an endeavor, an experiment actually, to strike a balance between a steamy romance and a mystery intrigue that both men and women would find appealing. And like any Harley Austin book, it has a huge dose of the unexpected.
The other books in the series are simply following the milieu with my adding new people to the story and watching how they interact as people from one book meet others later on. I'm having WAAAAY too much fun!

Writing for me is like a drug addiction--I cannot get enough of it. I don't need to get inspired to write, it just happens. Day in and day out. Writing is not a chore, it's as natural to me as breathing.

You just have to learn to walk away. Your creativity needs to rest sometimes. Sometime for a few hours, sometimes for a few days or even weeks. I've written myself into a corner so badly that I thought I was going to have to junk an entire book. I walked away from it for several days. When I came back to it, the ideas just flowed like a river. It was a magical time!

Write what YOU love, not what you think others will want to read. Don't be afraid to go outside the lines of what others have written or what you have written in the past. Challenge yourself to write better. Read what others have written. Don't just look at reviews, they can be misleading. Just because a book has 4 and 5 stars on Amazon does not mean it's a great book. A lot of these reviews are phony, paid-for reviews and are worthless. Write what you love to read! Write what you know about.

I'm currently writing book five of the Awakened Series call Paradisus. Book six is on the drawing board at the moment as well. Not sure what that one will be titled, but it may become a kind of prequel to the whole series.
