Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

J.B. Michaels An Archaeological museum in Chicago, Illinois. My imagination explodes for reals in places like that. All these incredible artifacts, each with a story, a narrative, a reason for its existence, the museum really fueled my last novel.

How do you get inspired to write?

J.B. Michaels I watch films, read books, play video games, frequent theme parks all in the pursuit of studying narrative. Then I go into a room or a place with no distractions and brainstorm! I plot my books on paper with a pencil and get a tremendously strong idea of what I want my story to be about before committing it to a hard drive.

What are you currently working on?

J.B. Michaels I just finished a rough draft for my urban fantasy thriller series! So, I am awaiting feedback from my editor. I am also planning the book launch, designing a cover, and figuring out what marketing plan I need to be make this my most successful launch ever.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

J.B. Michaels Keep working hard and be open with your work. You have to join a critique group or get your work reviewed by a pro. I can help you with that actually!

Also, just keep writing and writing and writing! Practice makes you better, no matter what discipline you are in. Writing is both an art and a technical skill.

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

J.B. Michaels Using my imagination, then transferring it to the world, then seeing how kids and adults respond. It is quite fascinating and thrilling to see how much of an impact my work has on others. I write to entertain and send positive energy into our world!
