Rosetta M. Overman The ideas for all of my books come from outside influence, usually songs, or videogames, and sometimes other books. I’m currently working on two projects, the first in a werewolf story that keeps fluctuating between a duology and a trilogy (it will most likely end with two books) that was inspired by other werewolf stories as well as my own love for all things shifter. The other is a graphic novel script and, if I manage to complete it, it will be my very first of its kind that I’ve personally authored. The change in format was in part inspired by Marvel and DC comics (I’ve been reading quite a few recently to catch up) as well as my own desire to see my characters eventually come to life on the page in a new way. The story itself is borderline sci-fi inspired half by superheroes and half by a play through of Mass Effect: Andromeda, though the sci-fi bit is rather small. It was also inspired, in larger part, by Uncharted 4 (the treasure hunting quality as well as one of the characters). By the time I’m finished, all of it will have morphed into something unrecognizable in comparison to the stories that inspired them.
Rosetta M. Overman Muses don’t exist, the only thing there is motivation. Most of the time when I’m actually motivated to write, it’s either something that has nothing to do with any of my current projects or I have no idea what exactly I’m inspired to do. That’s especially true with brand new stories. Mostly I force myself once I’ve passed that point where everything is sunshine and roses and actually have to figure out how to get from where I am to where I’m going. Usually that’s at just before the halfway mark up to three-quarters or even the last stretch. Writing is hard work, it puts a strain on the brain, so the only real motivation is the constant reminder that the book won’t write itself, only I can do that. That sounds terrible, I realized that while writing it, but that’s the surefire way to go about it. Inspiration is too fleeting to expect anything to get done by sitting around waiting for it.
Rosetta M. Overman Personally, I think it's connecting to the characters. I love how they always manage to grow and develop, somehow traveling down a path I hadn't intended them to go down and managing to improve the story. Giving them the reins always brings about fun surprises in the writing process.
Rosetta M. Overman I always have a considerable number of unfinished works. If one of them has me caught in writers' Limbo, I move to a different one that is as unrelated as possible to the one giving me problems for a while and plot ways to get around the blockage while gaining ground with one of my less developed WIPs.
Rosetta M. Overman As of the beginning of 2018, I'm working on my very first graphic novel script. It's an Urban Fantasy set in a world where fallen gods (known as Div) walk among humans. The first book introduces the Lawless sisters, four young women who are tasked with policing corrupted Div and magical artifacts.

I also have a couple of other projects, including more installments to my Game of Gods world as well as a Contemporary novel that takes place in the same world (though several years into the future) as my Ensemble Trilogy. The Game of Gods stories cover Aello, the Oracle of Apollo, who is in both Departure of Soul and Sacrifice, the other touches on the kitsune and kumiho, introducing some of the Far East mythos of the world. The Contemporary is the first of a trilogy titled Triple Threat and focuses on a young dancer named Milan who finds herself struggling to find independence and stay alive in the threat if gang violence she's never encountered in her sheltered life.
Rosetta M. Overman Usually I'm in a store or listening to music and something I see or a line I hear triggers a thought that morphs into a story. (I'm flattered that you find them 'amazing'.)
Rosetta M. Overman Never give up. No matter how discouraged you might get, don't let anything hold you back.
