Goodreads asked Rosetta M. Overman:

How do you get inspired to write?

Rosetta M. Overman Muses don’t exist, the only thing there is motivation. Most of the time when I’m actually motivated to write, it’s either something that has nothing to do with any of my current projects or I have no idea what exactly I’m inspired to do. That’s especially true with brand new stories. Mostly I force myself once I’ve passed that point where everything is sunshine and roses and actually have to figure out how to get from where I am to where I’m going. Usually that’s at just before the halfway mark up to three-quarters or even the last stretch. Writing is hard work, it puts a strain on the brain, so the only real motivation is the constant reminder that the book won’t write itself, only I can do that. That sounds terrible, I realized that while writing it, but that’s the surefire way to go about it. Inspiration is too fleeting to expect anything to get done by sitting around waiting for it.
