Thanks Nicole - I am so glad the quote meant something to you. I love writing and it is wonderful to hear that my words resonate with people who read them. Now I just have to find a way to share my work with more people :)
I am currently writing some books set in the French Revolution - lots of fun. I love writing historical romance as much as contemporary - they are both great ways to explore people and relationships.

Dear Nicole - thanks for your comment! That quote is from my second book 'Lie to me' (Chapter 6 - Looking after Tamsin). This book was published less than a year ago, so I am just starting to get known.
I love delving into the inner world of my characters and trying to show the way they feel as they get to know each other. Hope you enjoy reading some more of my work. Feel free to leave a review on Goodreads or Amazon if you feel inclined. Thanks. Emily :)

The 'Secret Life of Eloise' grew out of the first two books in my French connection series. After writing the story of how Sophie and Armand escaped from France during the revolution, I then started to imagine what life would have been like for Sophie's maid Eloise. And in particular, what she might have got up to behind closed doors. Eloise's story started to fascinate me, and as it turns out she plays an important part in many people's lives - more so than they realise. I am really excited that 'The Secret Life of Eloise' is now almost finished.

I just love creating characters and following their stories. Often, once I have thought of them, their stories almost seem to write themselves. That is always particularly fulfilling... sometimes it is hard to stop and come back to the real world.

If I am stuck on a part of one of my books, then I usually leave it for a bit and work on something else. I usually have a few different stories on the go at the same time, including a mixture of historical and contemporary books. When I have time for writing, I usually find one of them captures my attention. Either that, or I spend time on promotion and blogging. There is always plenty of interesting things to work on.

Usually I think of a character or a situation, and if it is interesting enough part of a story unfolds and tries to take over my head until I write it all down. Sometimes my ideas seem to come from nowhere, but they rarely come when I am in the middle of the business of everyday life. I need to find some quiet time to let the ideas brew. Being outside under a tree is a great way to relax and feel inspired.

Write a story that you are happy with. If you like it, chances are someone else will too.

I am just adding the finishing touches to a very raunchy historical romance called "The Secret Life of Eloise," Eloise is certainly the most flawed (and sex-mad) heroine I have written about so far, but she has her good points too... I am really enjoying seeing what she will get up to next (sometimes she shocks even me).
