Wendy Knuth Sometimes (actually often) I found myself staring into blank space while envisioning multiple angles. What would be interesting, what would be fun, which character would be best for relaying this, how would this change the story line and would I like to follow that road or is there a better path? Lather, rinse, repeat.
Wendy Knuth Once I came up with the idea of zombies for children I looked for contradictions in the zombie world. I did not want the typical green zombie. This led me to come up with a zombie nerd, a teenage zombie fashionista, a zombie baby, and a dirty little boy zombie who loves camping. I had a lot of fun developing these characters, and definitely pulled from my experiences as a parent. It took me quite some time to find an illustrator who I felt could interpret my vision and put it on the page. I am very pleased with the result!
Wendy Knuth I was playing video games with my kids and felt there should be a kinder, gentler version of zombies for children.
