Dustin Carpenter Try not to get into it in the first place. Before I even write, I try to have a clear idea of my story's beginning and ending, and then I fill in the events between. I make an outline of the most important events and fill in the details to get from one to the next.

If I find that I've written myself into a corner, I take a break, re-read what I've got, and if nothing comes to me, I usually run it past my writing coach or editor. If you don't have these luxuries, a writing group can help. Don't seek the help of friends or family -- it's not the best way to get constructive crits unless they are in the industry.
Dustin Carpenter Write, even if it's a little bit, every day. Have your creative time which is just yours.
Dustin Carpenter I always have a few things I'm scratching at, but currently I'm outlining the second Azimuth Falls novel and doing some writing on the side. I've also put Natrola on the back-burner until I can figure out a better way to deal with the immense amount of data required to tell the story as it is now.
