Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini She suffered from catalepsy. In medieval Spain, she would likely be dead to the world and buried alive.
Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini When I was researching one of my father's family lines, I stumbled upon a story that was not passed through the generations. As I continued researching, it became clear that it needed to be told, as it was of great historical value. The challenge became how to tell it. I decided to write a novel to use creativity in areas where there was simply no information available. I explain further in the "Author's Notes" section at the end of the book.
Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini For my first book, a non-fiction legal guide for businesses, I was inspired by the need of my clients to have a guide; something that they could read to know the vulnerabilities they would face.

For my historical novel, Antonio's Will, I was inspired by my family research. Real life can be the best source of stories!

Lastly, I am inspired and encouraged by other authors and their stories. Joining authors groups has been a very positive experience. Reader feedback can also be very encouraging.
Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini You can transport yourself to another time and place. Imagination is liberating. The learning along the way, enriches your mind and soul. And hearing/reading feedback about your writing is priceless, especially when you know you are touching other people in a positive way.
Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini I am participating in NaNoWriMo for the first time this year. My new historical/paranormal novel centers in 15th century Spain, but spans a course of 600 years!
Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini Never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something you love to do. If writing is your passion, pursue it. For me, personally, I knew ever since I was very young that it was a passion, but I never pursued it professionally. I entered contests while in high-school and college and won, but then I stopped writing. I got busy with my other career choices and life. Writing has returned now that I am turning 50. And I hope it stays for good.

Never give it up, if you think this is your calling. Also, writers are unique, and someone else's style should not out rule yours. Imagine if all artists drew the same picture! Create your own style and go with it, but always listen to advice that can make you a better writer. Find other authors to support and help guide you. Even experienced authors do this.
Yasmin Tirado-Chiodini I take a break from writing and switch to another task. I make sure when I return I am in a quiet place, at night or early in the morning when everyone at home is asleep. Sometimes, I do continue thinking during the day about how to break the block. I even keep a notebook by my bed in case I come up with an idea while sleeping. Crazy, but it has happened before, and I do not want to miss the opportunity, if it comes up! I also write "around the block," e.g., scenes that I know will take place anyways.
