Lending a sense of immortality to the places, events, and people I write about. I get a feeling that there are things that should not fade away from our memory. Those are the people and things I want to write about. There are so many of them out there that I refuse to see erased completely from the annals of history. I can't write history but I can write stories that serve to remember things that were dear to me and mine.

I've just finished the third of what I call my 'Mountain Village Stories.' My effort now is to see the release and distribution channels initiated. My next novel will return to the streets of New Orleans and Jefferson parish. It's carnival time and the story opens on a Thursday night at the Krewe of Jason parade on Jefferson Highway. Where it ends, ??????. The first character to make an appearance will be a younger Jimmy Mason (Page Thirteen - The Book). Nuff said.

By observing and living. I like to set my stories in either the place I happen to be at the present or in a place I've been and experienced. In that sense, I'd prefer to be "in the middle of it all" when I take on a project. I live on a mountainside with a lovely view. Someone asked me if the view gives me inspiration to write. I said:
"No, I'm inspired by the street. I want to be in the midst of my subject matter, not looking down at it from the hillside."
I write about life and to write about it I have to experience it.
