Goodreads asked David A. Myers:

How do you get inspired to write?

David A. Myers By observing and living. I like to set my stories in either the place I happen to be at the present or in a place I've been and experienced. In that sense, I'd prefer to be "in the middle of it all" when I take on a project. I live on a mountainside with a lovely view. Someone asked me if the view gives me inspiration to write. I said:

"No, I'm inspired by the street. I want to be in the midst of my subject matter, not looking down at it from the hillside."

I write about life and to write about it I have to experience it.
