I love to go round museums and art galleries and imagine the lives of people in the paintings or sculptures or imagine how things might have been used in lives before they found themselves behind glass walls.

Absolutely the best thing about being a writer is meeting readers.

Write as much as you can, even when you don't feel like it. Don't wait for the 'right moment' - just get writing. The more you write, the more you will feel like writing - it's addictive.
Oh, and by the way, don't call yourself an 'aspiring' writer. If you write, then you are a writer. Don't do yourself down. Own it.

I'm currently working on two projects - a 12+ Victorian adventure about two children with a secret who escape from a circus and go on the run to solve the mystery of their past, and a fun book about a theatre cat, inspired by my love of three things - the theatre, opera and cats.

I knew that I wanted to write a book about a girl who led a double life, and I knew that I wanted her to be creative. I'd loved writing the Max series with my crime solving cat, and I love secret codes, so I wondered about writing a spy series. Alice was very nearly a milliner, then a dressmaker, but I finally decided to make her Paris' most talented baker because I wanted her to be present at all the sorts of events where she might be able to pick up clues from important people who won't realise why she's really there. I had tremendous fun dreaming up all the incredible (and yet extremely edible) creations she gets to make.
