Bryan W. Alaspa It was three in the morning when I heard the baby crying from down the hall. Too bad I was single and had never had any children.
Bryan W. Alaspa I like a boring life. I don't think there's a single place I'd prefer to go. Although, I would be the Doctor's companion for a bit in the Doctor Who series.
Bryan W. Alaspa Stephen King's new one is obvious for me. I also would like to read the book James Patterson just finished for Michael Crichton's estate. It sounds interesting. I love indie writers and plan on reading a number of books from my indie author friends.
Bryan W. Alaspa Good question. For a while, it was a mystery what happened to the girl my first wife and I gave up for adoption. We did finally connect, but for almost 20 years we had no idea what had happened. The second mystery is more recent - namely, how did my mother-in-law end up with a brain tumor.
Bryan W. Alaspa Hi there. Sorry it took me so long to answer. I just make the time. I do have a full time job in marketing and write for a company. However, I make time during lunches, in the morning before work. It's hard and overwhelming at times, but I love writing so much I just force myself to find time. If I just write 300 words or get 1,000 words - advance the story.
Bryan W. Alaspa I have been super lucky and rarely get writer's block. If a story sputters out on me, I almost always have another story that is stronger and ready to go inside my brain, so I can just switch. You can't be afraid to just abandon a story and move on to something else.
Bryan W. Alaspa You can look up pretty much anything online and it can be called "research." I also love working from home. I love being able to create entire worlds inside my head and make the characters do what I want. There is just a sheer joy in writing.
Bryan W. Alaspa Writers write. That's a cliche, but it's true. Keep working on it. There are so many ways to get your work out there these days, that I hate seeing writers who just give up. You may not be able to live off royalties alone (I don't), but you have to let that voice in your head out and develop your talent.
Bryan W. Alaspa Currently working on a YA series. The first novel of a four-part series should be out sometime early in 2015. I also just wrote a lengthy epic novel that is with Beta readers and that will be out sometime next year. I also have several ideas for new novels that I will be working on in 2015.
Bryan W. Alaspa It varies. Sometimes it's another author's work that triggers inspiration. Sometimes something on TV or on the news. Sometimes it just come out of the blue.
Bryan W. Alaspa My most recent book is Rotate the Earth and is my first post-apocalyptic novel. It was inspired in part by Death Race 2000, Mad Max and even The Hunger Games. Plus, driving in Chicago makes you want to destroy the other drivers and I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like if that were legal.
