Deb Marlowe Hi Vickie! Thanks so much for your interest in Kara and Niall! I do believe that the remaining books will be translated to audio. I've discussed it with my publisher, as I get a lot of questions about it. They say it will happen, but there is a long line. Fingers crossed it will move quickly!
Deb Marlowe Hi Diana! Yes! I just heard the release date a couple of days ago. The audio version will be released on 12/12/23. It is on pre-order now. And next year there will be more Kier and Levett Mystery books!
Deb Marlowe I would choose Hestia Wright--even though she would be a hard friend to live up to! She's strong and generous and brave. She's fought back against cruelty and managed to turn it into something that makes the world better. She's indomitable, fighting against the man who wronged her and continues to wreak havoc on others. I would be her friend and try to live up to her example--as I do IRL!
Deb Marlowe Hi Cintia!

There's no denying, publishing is a hard business! If you want to write, you really have to sign on for the long roller coaster ride.

My best advice is to make sure you enjoy the process. Find joy in putting your story on the page. It will sustain you through the long process to publication. And on the many ups and downs that continue afterwards. There is rarely such a thing as instant success, so making yourself happy in the long process is key. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy the rush that comes with creation. Enjoy learning something new every day. And brace yourself for the fact that you will wake up every morning with a to-do list that will not be conquered! :-)

Wishing you the best!

Deb

Deb Marlowe Hi Heather! Thank you so much for the question!

Well, I can answer that easily, because I have done just that--written a book--a series, really--in another genre. :-)

I adore my Regency Historicals and I'm not giving them up. But I'm adding a new genre into the mix. I wanted to write something my kids can read. I wanted to involve them in the process a bit and have something we could share as it came into being.

So, I've written a Young Adult Fantasy Adventure called Eye of the Ninja. It will be released in October, 2015. The second book, Obsidian's Eye, will follow in December. I've had great fun with this series, researching the myths and folklore of Japan and mixing them in with adventure set in the near future. I hope you will try it out!

Eye of the Ninja is up for pre-order and already on Goodreads if you would like to read a sample or check it out!

Many thanks for your question!
Deb Marlowe Hi Sarah,

Thanks so much for the question! It's a hard one. :-)

I think that my favorite to date was the The Love List. It was the first time I really got to stretch my wings in terms of including a bigger suspense element and a larger world. Aldmere and Brynne were special to me because they worked so hard to get their Happily Ever After. Plus, I loved creating the character of Hestia Wright. She's got so many layers and her back story is so rich, she's really come alive for me. I love continuing to peel back her story, letting readers see into her a bit at a time and luckily, she's a favorite with them too!

The hardest was, of course, the first one! I was trying to find my way as a storyteller, and fit writing in with small kids, but I had a blast and was lucky enough to get my first book published with one of the Big Six.

I hope that answered your question! You'll have to let me know which is your favorite!
Deb Marlowe Thanks for the question, namericanwordcat! Of course, my very favorite Man in Boots will always be my Valiant Husband, even if he does wear Wellies instead of Hessians!

But, oh my, there are so many others that make my favorite list! Here's a sampling for you:

Mr. Darcy--I'm fond of the Colin Firth and the Matthew MacFayden versions, for different reasons...

Mr. Knightley--the Jeremy Northam version. Yum!

Any of my heroes--they all wear boots. :-) But only one heroine has admitted to sharing my obsession: Miss Chloe Hardwick in Unbuttoning Miss Hardwick.

Captain Malcom Reynolds--my favorite space cowboy and TV boyfriend

Qui Gon Jinn--the Liam Neeson Star Wars Jedi whose boots go up and up!

How about you? Got a favorite? :-)
Deb Marlowe There are so many answers to this question! I love storytelling. I'm addicted to all forms of it. I love giving life to the worlds and characters in my head and sharing them with you! I love connecting with people all over the world who enjoy history and words and romance. I love the ability to work at home and be there for my kids. I love being able to work in t-shirts and yoga pants. :-) There--that's a good start!
Deb Marlowe Take a break and refill the well. I usually try another form of storytelling. Watch a great movie, veg out with a witty TV show, go to a glittering, fun play! It connects you with your storytelling roots!
