Dean Clayton Edwards I wanted to create a hero who was a murderer. It was a challenge at the time. And I wanted him to use his nefarious talents for good.

Dean Clayton Edwards Being lost in a story. The act of writing, I think, is the best thing about being a writer. The moments when your following the characters and the story is kind of out of your hands and you wonder what's going to happen next and how.

I can normally see the problem (it becomes clearer by moving away from the page) and I can soon find a way through. Sometimes I have some resistance at taking the necessary action to fix the problem, but then so would you if someone told you that they loved your skyscraper, but it would be better if it were six feet to the left and rotated 45 degrees. While moving the skyscraper sometimes needs to be done, I prefer to spend extra time in the planning stages to avoid that kind of mishap.
