“Consciousness is naturally shamanic.”
Joy Manne, Was the Buddha a Shaman?
“For most people FABE results in a most marvelous alignment of energy. As soon as they’ve breathed into their buttocks and thighs, they feel their feet firmly on the floor and energy flowing harmoniously through their body. It is a truly beautiful feeling. If you watch people doing this, you can see a change in their appearance. Their body appears clearer in outline and their energy field becomes larger, and both appear more harmonious. When we have achieved a degree of breath mastery, we can take our inhalation from beneath our feet and fill our physical and energy bodies with air to far above our head, and we can release this combination of physical and energy breath as a wave that flows down over our body to far below our feet, cleaning our energy field on its way. Try it. The best position for this exercise is lying down. You will be able to feel your energy body extend way beyond the limits of your physical body and probably way beyond the limits of the room you are in as well.”

“She breathes. This slows her down. She stops spluttering. She tells me of her suffering again – this time listening to herself; this time hearing herself. With her in-breath, in the pauses in her communication, she takes in new ideas. She sees her part in creating the problem and acknowledges her agreement to have it. Her problem now looks and feels completely different. She has taken her part of the responsibility for its existence. She has breathed stuck emotions out of it. She has breathed space into it. She has breathed insight into it.”

“Breathing in, I breathe in myself, with love. Breathing in, I breathe in my partner, with love. Breathing in, I breathe in my parents, with love. Breathing in, I breathe in my children, with love. Breathing in, I breathe in my profession, with love. Breathing in, I breathe in my obligations and duties, with love. Breathing in, I breathe in the world, with love. The in-breath symbolizes taking, receiving, accepting, and whatever else you associate with “in”. Can you take, or have you been taught that you are not allowed to take? Can you breathe in all of these people, and take in all of these concepts, with love? It is unlikely, unless you have done a great deal of work on yourself and are enlightened. As you learn breath language in this way, what your breath will show you is where there is work to be done regarding any people, ideas, or aspects of your life. You have only to ask your breath and it will tell you. The”

“Sit comfortably on a chair with your feet flat on the ground. Your knees and feet should be parallel to your hips. Feel your weight on your buttocks. Be sure to sit up straight. Do not tense your body. Now imagine you are a vase, and that the air you breathe is water. Let the air you breathe flow into you like water into a vase, filling you from the bottom up. Do not hold onto your breath. Once the “vase” is comfortably full, let your body decide its moment to let go. Let your exhalation pour smoothly from your body like water from a jug. Breathe in again. Take a few minutes to practice this breathing. When we do this kind of breathing, we are fully conscious and in the present. Our energy is freely available for use. We feel alert, attentive, and interested, and our mental attitude is positive and creative.”

“like water into a vase. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about myself, with love. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about my partner, with love. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about my parents, with love. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about my children, with love. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about my profession, with love. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about my obligations and duties, with love. Breathing out, I let go all judgments about the world, with love. If you have pain or stress or tension somewhere in your body, breathe out your pain, with love. If there is a particular problem on your mind, breathe it out, with love.”

“Now imagine that your buttocks are a second pair of lungs. Make the vase bigger and let the air flow as smoothly as water into these “energy lungs” as well as into your physical lungs, again filling you from the bottom up. Take time to get comfortable with this way of breathing. Now imagine that your thighs are a third pair of lungs. They too are “energy lungs.” Make the vase bigger and let the air flow into both pairs of “energy lungs” as well as into your physical lungs. Take time to get comfortable with this way of breathing. Notice how you feel. Pay attention to all your body areas as well as your thoughts. Can you feel your feet? Do they feel different with this kind of breathing?”

“Buddha is someone with a very advanced self-concept. His self-esteem is perfect; he has gone beyond doubt; he knows, and he is confident of his knowledge; he expresses himself with conviction. When the Buddha talks of himself in the first person he does so with clarity. He has a strong sense of identity and knows very well who he is. He gives accounts of his life experiences in the first person.”
