SINGLE RELEASE, APRIL 3RD

SINGLE: Still We Dream of Flying
RELEASE: April 3, 2018
ARTIST: Ben Pasley & Enter The Worship Circle
This is the cover art from Ryan Hadden, see HaddenArts on Facebook, and it perfectly depicts the quirky story of this single: things that were meant to fly, and can't, are sad. We all dream of flying in one way or another: transcending this world, getting above the present troubles, getting higher perspective on our situation, escaping gravity in general, and, yes, the consideration of eternity. The "colorist" for the single cover art will be announced on the release day!
My new single is set to drop on April 3rd (also happens to be my brother Eric's birthday, Happy Birthday, Eric!) and will be streaming and downloadable from everywhere. Are you following me on Spotify yet?

Retool
It's that time of the year.
For a moment everything had stopped and we got a full picture of our family and friends all around us. Now slowly, in the post-haze of Christmas holidays and New Year celebrations, we dizzily make our way back to our business. Take your time friends.
Welcome to 2018.
Hope all is great with you. I usually take the weeks between mid-December and the first of January to "retool." I heard that term used first in the steel mills around Birmingham, Alabama when I was a collegiate working a job for a fire and safety company. I will spare you the work details to say that when a machine has to start making a part that is a little different than last year's part, they pause the whole operation, shut down all the processes, and take apart the machine so they can convince it to make the new part, the new shape, for the new year. Everything has to stop.
I am retooling.
I sense some new shapes to be made in 2018. There are a lot of hungry people out there.
I have written 30 songs since October of 2017, today only three made the cut for presenting this year on the stage. This song did not make the cut, yet, but I am sharing the lyrics with you so you can feel some of my creative process. I was in Matthew 25 when I was dealing with it
Not everything lasts
Not everything comes up roses
Not every angel is in heaven
Not every demon is in hell
Ask me how I know
And I will show you
The people I have used
The lovers I’ve abused
Take me apart
Like the sheep from the goats
Like a stone from what floats
Take me apart to put me together again
Take me apart to find out
What makes this clock tick
What makes this heart sick
Take me apart to put me together again

The Table
Ben Pasley records a video bit of a new song idea, and some reflections on being in prison on Saturday. These recordings are very close to song-writing journals. The final song may only be a hint of what happens here, or this song may never happen again. This is what is so amazingly ridiculous about the Enter The Worship Circle blog and podcast, it is real time struggle, not a carefully packaged reputation manager.

Winter is Coming
"Pray that it may not happen in winter."
Good advice from Mark 13:18, and that is pretty much how I feel about everything this time of year. I don't care what kind of poetic beauty you find in it. I do not like it, and it is still coming for me like that shiny guy in the second Terminator.
At least I have these beauties to carry me along (see pics and marvel).
Ever wonder who the "ham" is in my family?
