Help Me Give Back and Write a Review
Hi Readers,
I've got some good news. Starting today, #givingtuesday, and going until January 1st for every review that gets written on Amazon of my book Love Sick my publisher will donate $5 to the National MS Society.
All you have to do is click here. Scroll down to the reviews. Click on WRITE A REVIEW and write a sentence or two or five on what you thought of the book. Or simply copy and paste the review you already wrote here on Goodreads. It's that easy to give money to charity.
Plus, if you forward the confirmation of your review from Amazon to publicity@writeoutpublishing.com you will be entered for a chance to win a $50 AMEX gift card.
Thanks for reading and spreading the word!
Much love,
Cory

Media Mayhem with Allison Hope Weiner
Hi Readers,
I just did this super fun interview with journalist Allison Hope Weiner over on LipTV on her show Media Mayhem.
Here's the description of the show:
"Ms. Martin shares an excerpt from her book and discuss the difficulties in telling loved ones and new loves about the diagnosis. Ms. Martin also explains how MS helped her tap into her creativity and changed her career forever in this episode of Media Mayhem hosted by Allison Hope Weiner."

Hope you enjoy!

Signed Copies of Love Sick Now Available
Hi Readers,
Guess what? My publisher is now offering signed copies of my memoir Love Sick.
What's that mean for you? Well, it means you can get an ultra special version of the book for no extra charge. Is that worth something? I don't know. But when the book hits the NY Times bestseller list or I get busted for hosting illegal ant fighting games in my backyard, it'll probably be worth a ton. Do I know this for sure? No. But isn't a signed book always better than one that's not? Plus, my mom says I have really nice handwriting and that's got to be worth something, right? So, if you're looking for a gift for a friend or simply want a copy for yourself, click on the text below:
Love Sick by Cory Martin - Signed Copy
Don't forget, 10% of the profits from the book will be donated to the National MS Society. That means you get to do good just by reading - as if you needed a good excuse to buy another book.
Much Love,
Cory

Lost Chapter from Love Sick
Hi Readers,
I'm going to let you in on a little secret. When us writers write a lot of stuff gets edited out of our books. It's not necessarily bad writing (though there's definitely some of that) that gets cut, in fact sometimes it's good writing. However, that writing usually no longer has a place in the story of that book. So sometimes we repurpose that writing into something else and that something else is what I'd like to share with you.
Here's a little article I wrote for XOJane, the online women's magazine, that was adapted from a deleted chapter in my memoir, Love Sick. Hope you enjoy!

Want to know how I came up with the title for my memoir, Love Sick? Read on...
Dear Readers,
I've always been fascinated with the writing process. In fact, in college, I spent just as much time studying writers' lives and their personal stories as I did their actual works. To this day I still find myself on writers' blogs or websites, FB or IG accounts trying to glean every last bit of information as I can, which is why I want to share some of my own process with you. Lately I've been getting a lot of questions about how I came up with the title to my memoir Love Sick, so I thought I'd tell you...
The original title was M.S. to M-R-S. It was a play on words, or letters shall I say. I came up with it when I was twenty-eight and all my friends were getting married around me. I thought my time would come soon and wouldn’t it be clever if I wrote a book about MS (multiple sclerosis) and dating and eventually got married, thus turning the M.S. into an M-R-S in front of my name. Of course, years later when I realized this was not going to happen and making life choices based on trying to keep a title of a book was not the best way to go about life, I dropped that title and started searching for something new. I kept a little notes section going in my phone and whenever I had a title idea I would write it in there. For almost a year I did this and nothing was sticking. Then one day I was out for a walk and it hit me. Love Sick. It was the perfect play on words. A few days later I looked it up on urban dictionary and found this:
“A deep often depressing feeling of wanting to find love. To be longing for love; to be without a companion to share one’s life with, though it is desired deeply.”
And I knew I had made the right decision.

Pub Day for Love Sick is Here!
Dear Readers,
It’s here! The official pub day of my memoir, Love Sick, has finally arrived and I couldn’t be more excited. Why? Because this book has been in the works for eight years now and it feels so good to finally be able to release it out into the world. In fact, it sort of feels like I’ve just given birth to a precious child and I can’t wait for everyone to meet her. All I want to do is share photos and links and quotes and stories all over my social media pages to show everyone that it’s here. It’s finally here.
For years I’ve been reading memoir after memoir as a way to understand the genre and hone my skills and I have a such a great admiration and appreciation for the authors who have gone before me (Elizabeth Gilbert, Cheryl Strayed, Jeannette Walls, Claire Bidwell Smith, Susannah Cahalan and many others), that I can’t believe today I get to add myself to that category of writer. It has been a long journey to get here. I have shed many tears, laughed uncontrollably, shit my pants (the story’s in the book), taken trips to the ER, gone to countless doctor appointments, become a part of an amazing writers’ group, taken classes at that “other” school (my apologies to my alma mater USC), met and connected with other MS warriors, written draft after draft of the book, and finally set it on my desk in all its completed hardcover glory.
If you are following me because you heard about Love Sick through a Goodreads giveaway and you want to know more about my story, I thank you and I promise to be as open and honest as I can be – the question section is open on this page so don’t be shy. If you stumbled upon this page because you read one of my OC novelizations way back in the day, thank you for sticking along for the ride. If you’re a fan of my Yoga for Beginners book, well thank you for seeing what else I have to say. And if you’re a fellow MS Warrior thank you for taking a chance on my story, while I know that every one of our journeys is unique I still can’t help but feel that we’ve all got a similar story to tell when it comes to our fears and hopes and dreams for life with this disease and I hope that in some way I can inspire you to share your own story or at the very least I hope I can get you to laugh.
To all my readers, if you like what you read in Love Sick, I would feel so blessed if you took the time to help me spread the word by adding a review, telling a friend, or tweeting it to the world. Because here’s the best part of the memoir: 10% of the proceeds from the book are being donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, if that’s not a good reason to get a copy I don’t know what is. So what do you say? Will you help me spread the word so one day there’ll be a cure?
Much love,
Cory
