Author, Christopher Sturdevant, spent the first six years of his life abroad, first in Taiwan, where he was born, and then in Germany. His Father was serving as a Security Policeman in the United States Air Force. In 1971, the family received orders to Lackland AFB and moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he grew up.

His skills as a writer began to be noticed during his high school years. His sophomore English teacher saw in him the potential to become a talented writer. He started out with short stories and poetry, and dreams of becoming a published author.

Upon graduation from high school, he followed in his Father’s footsteps, entering the Air Force where he trained as a Medical Services Specialist. In the years since, he has worked in the fields of mental health, web and graphic design, marketing, computer sales, technical support, and in the copy and print industry.

For many years, writing seemed to take a back seat to whatever was going on in life, but every once in a while, it moved up to the front.

In the fall of 2009, after having back surgery, he returned to school at Northwest Vista College, in San Antonio, where he studied Digital Media. He attended college part time while continuing to work full time in computer sales. In December of 2013, Christopher graduated Suma Cum Laude with an Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Digital Media. Today he continues his school work, working on an additional degree in Digital Video and Cinema Production.

This latest coursework found him in a screen writing class where he was assigned to write a script for an original feature film. He thought for days about what to write about, then suddenly, it hit him. There was a short story, based on another of his poems, he had started 30 years ago but never finished. He decided to take the ideas from that story and run with it. When the script was complete and the semester over, he realized that he had all the elements in place for finally writing the complete story. He began the task of converting the script over to manuscript form. The final product evolved into his first full length children’s novel.

As luck would have it, and through the power of social media, he reconnected with his mentor and former English teacher, and together they started down the road to publication.

Now that the first book is complete, Chris spends his time working on the sequel to his first novel, and he is well on his way to another exciting adventure featuring his child-hero, Alex DaSilva.

The story of The Hall of a Thousand Doors will ultimately unfold over a series of several books, however, Chris is planning several stand-alone novels based on his original characters from this trilogy.
