While researching my book 8MEN, I discovered that the past was depicted those in power not necessary by the facts. Do we care or do we really just want a good story? Would we really care if FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to happen or would it matter if Martin Luther King Jr. was killed because of his opposition to Vietnam not because of his leadership of the Civil Rights movement? So I ask is history a feel good story made up by the dominant society to rationalize its prior transgressions or a true depiction of unaltered past facts?
