Free Write To Get Unstuck

Whether you get stuck in the prewriting phase or in the middle of a draft, free write! Free writing is what you’d write if you could get away with anything and everything. This technique taps into your subconscious without your Inner Critic and Self-Editor hanging around. Free writing allows you to riff on words, phrases, and ideas like a jazz musician. Free writing unjams your idea seeds and helps you find that one golden nugget needed to solve a problem. Free writing dives deep into the emotional realms to help sculpt a story or idea more deeply and authentically.
In free writing, there are no rights or wrongs. This technique allows your brain to play with words on the page. Like other writing techniques, practice makes progress.

Act II, Part 2

Camp NaNoRiMo is moving along! I'm 32,000 words into my paranormal murder mystery, and my characters are shifting roles, and I'm rolling along with them, even if they're making it complicated for me. ;)

Currently, I'm intrigued by a possible younger man love interest for my sleuth. She's not a cougar and hates the label, but the attractive young detective has piqued her interest. The first kiss is coming and sure to be a juicy scene to write.

This novel has all the excitement and intrigue of a YA Novel with "seasoned" men and a mature, independent woman. Because life doesn't end at 40 and there's always trouble in Romance.

Let The Mystery Begin

AUTHOR UPDATE: Camp NaNoRiMo started off with a bang instead of a whimper. My first adult fiction book is in the works. I had no idea it would challenge me and excite me so much!

I finished Act I last week. Now, I'm deep in the thick of the unfolding clues of Act II, Part 1. 24,000 words and counting.

I am falling in love with my characters as they begin to breathe on their own. The scenes are flowing, and the draft is ROUGH! I suppose that's where we all start.

Amateur sleuth and birthday girl, Constance Quince is about to turn 50 years old. She moved back to her tiny hometown of Romance and opened an antiques and oddities shop named Virtu. When a mesmerizing antique ring appears in a delivery of antiques, and a friend's husband dies at her 50th birthday party with the ring in his hand, she is the main suspect. With the help of her childhood friends and a new love interest, Connie's only hope is to solve these mysteries.

Title Reveal Next Friday!

Tell me. What do you love and hate in a murder mystery? Inquiring writers want to know.
