To my Faithful Troll
Dear Troll,
First, let me tell you how much I admire your tenacity - I have blocked you from my blog, my Facebook page and my Goodreads profile, as you were leaving inappropriate and personal comments for all to see. Unbeknown to you, I have received many support messages from people who I didn't even know before this, and the consensus seems to be that you ought to get a life, or at the very least do something constructive with it.
As your attempts at destroying my online reputation have been repeatedly thwarted, you have assumed not one, but two new identities, under which you left one-star ratings. I presume there will be many more to come. I am honoured you spend so much of your time following my every move, but at the same time I feel a little sad that you seem to have no other hobbies. Why not take up knitting, for instance? Or, if you are into extreme sports, you could always try base-jumping, or even playing chicken on the motorway... the possibilities are endless.
Leaving aside your bad grammar and underhand tactics, which, I must admit, I find slightly off-putting, I think I ought to thank you for giving my book the extra exposure it needed. Now people look at it and think: "You know what, I'll just go and read that one, I want to see what all the fuss is about."
Unfortunately for you, no matter what you do, people will carry on reading my book and talking about it. Some will like it, some won't.
