It’s Cheaper to Live in Paradise, But Should We?

Caribbean-Baby-Beach-Bum-CulebraSo, we have this dilemma. Michelle and I need to figure out where we’re going to live next. You see, we have a baby on the way (yippee!) and we don’t have a home to raise him in (hmm…). Of course, if you’ve been reading past posts, you know that not having a home has been by design. This last year we’ve been wandering around, traveling to different countries, spending time with the family in Vermo

“I began to see that “success” had always been about money, power, survival, or fear, when it should have been about enjoyment and contentment; about enjoying the brief time we all have. ”
Jeffrey Sands, Letting Go: A Marine's Journey Through War and His Search for Meaning

“Although I speak very highly of Marines, whether they are enlisted or officers, there always seems to be a statistical anomaly when it comes to the ratio of shitbags to non-shitbags everywhere in the world.”
Jeffrey Sands, Letting Go: A Marine's Journey Through War and His Search for Meaning

“I didn’t realize it at the time, but suppressing my emotions wasn’t a sign of strength, it was a sign of weakness.  I feared my own emotions, and I blocked them out, how tough could that really be?  To tackle them head on, that was the real challenge.  Once I understood that I didn’t need to resist my emotions, that’s when things changed; once I understood that resisting them wasn’t controlling them, no matter how hard I tried.”
Jeffrey Sands, Letting Go: A Marine's Journey Through War and His Search for Meaning

“I looked inside, compelled to stare, staining the image of a dead body into my memory. I did not deserve to look away. I had to know the awfulness of war; the wickedness of our species.”
