Penelope Marzec grew up along the Jersey shore, heard stories about Captain Kidd, and dug for his buried treasure. Her adventure resulted in a bad case of poison ivy. Deciding books were better than buried treasure, she discovered romance novels and was soon hooked on happy endings. She became an early childhood educator and found her own hero in an electrical engineer who grew up in Brooklyn, played the accordion, and was immune to poison ivy. Together they raised three daughters. Now retired, Penelope either writes her stories or paints seascapes in oils. Sometimes she sings while her husband plays the accordion.

Hi Feather,

Nice to meet you, too. I've seen you on Triberr--you've passed along some of my posts and I do appreciate that. When it comes to marketing, I'm struggling along with everyone else. Great titles and eye-catching covers provide a jump start to marketing. Yes, the book should have an excellent story, but there are zillions of books vying for readers' attentions--so a fantastic cover and snappy title make a big difference. Social media does help in marketing books, even if it takes time. Triberr gave my blog a huge boost, but I am on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter, too.

Aside from social media, it helps to belong to a writers' group where you support your writer friends and they support you.

And last, but not least, it is a boon to any writer to have a supportive publisher and to help the other writers in that publishing group by writing reviews, tweeting about their books, and posting their books on your blog.

So a big part of my marketing plan is all about helping other writers. You assist them in getting the word out about their books, and they assist you. It's the writers' Golden Rule. :-)(less)
