The first year after my father's death, the second year, the third, and time goes on
I was still modeling, but I was grieving also.
From my journal on my father’s death and that first year. I can be certain that in year two, three, five and...the carrying of carrying on is still carried. The pack of unsaid words, moments of wish-you-were-here, the wondering of whys, the new hellos, the signs and symbols of what was, the thankfulness of knowing what was, the discoveries, the memory, the honor and pride runs in you, it grows, it grows you, your heart, while carrying them on.

Podcast on grief and heirlooms: Dad's voicemails
This episode features my father's voicemails. While grieving, hearing my father's voice has helped me find solace. Yes, it is hard sometimes to listen to them, but also I get to be in his day again...for a few minutes...and it's been important toward making peace with how he died to hear him alive.
When there isn't a goodbye, it helps as though his last voicemails...are his last words.

A new podcast on heirlooms is up
This is my father's pocketknife I found in his car after he died. It reminded me of being 12 years old when he gave me his old pocketknife back then, and the meaning of the memory it holds.

Where does time go while grieving
After my father passed away time changed, for a long time it felt slow--marked by what happened before and after. And this reads how I had felt in those early months and years. Sometimes I still can't believe it, and sigh into the knowing that he is gone, as another year turns.
It's easy to know how long as my son was born the following year after his death. Parenthood and grief-hood have both grown me so much, side by side.

Makeup, words, and Dad's sudden death
I remember I didn't put my makeup on the day my Dad died. Days went by without a clean face or glance at a tooth brush. My words left unsaid trampled over themselves in my mind, and kept me quiet asking why, why now, where there, why this way, while I went through my to-do list closing my father's life. It included deciding on an urn. My face became parched and dry.
