An Economics graduate and B-School Post-Graduate, Arindam fell in love with poetry the day he first read Robert Frost's 'The Road Not Taken'. Since then he has developed an acute infatuation with the written word, which has led him to read quite a bit from Rūmī to Neruda, Hosseini to Orwell and Poindexter to G.R.R. Martin. Writing has been part of him for as long as he can remember and, while he co-authored his first book 'Prelude to the Horizon' with close friend and fellow Presidency College alumni Monami Ghosh, his second book 'Notes in the margin' is a solo effort. Currently based out of Mumbai, he works at an advertising agency and sometimes tries his hand at photography. ...more

“I fall into those gaps sometimes.
You know, the gaps that open up in between thoughts.
I reach out for the walls. Every time. And I grasp at emptiness…
The gaps don’t have walls. You don’t need walls to climb out.
You don’t need a matchstick either;
light only makes your shadows look frightening.
You only need to search the darkness
for the old face, carbon paper and a white mask.”
Arindam Mallick, Prelude to the Horizon

“I leave in the search of you
at the flourish of midnight every day…
when the fire inside is stoked by the mania of solitude,
and the blood declines to hold the insanity at bay.”
Arindam Mallick, Prelude to the Horizon

“There is only one sin. and that is theft... when you tell a lie, you steal someones right to the truth.”
Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner

“For you, a thousand times over”
Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner

“Of all the hardships a person had to face, none was more punishing than the simple act of waiting.”
Khaled Hosseini, A Thousand Splendid Suns

“It was only a smile, nothing more. It didn't make everything all right. It didn't make ANYTHING all right. Only a smile. A tiny thing. A leaf in the woods, shaking in the wake of a startled bird's flight. But I'll take it. With open arms. Because when spring comes, it melts the snow one flake at a time, and maybe I just witnessed the first flake melting. - Amir”
Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner

“There are a lot of children in Afghanistan, but little childhood.”
Khaled Hosseini, The Kite Runner
