Tom,

Code War was an experiment of sorts in which Net Force would have been serialized short novels available as e-books only. But within weeks of the first part coming out, the Powers-that-Be had a change of heart and the first installment was withdrawn.

Several years later, when the opportunity to continue Net Force as regular paper and ink AND e-books came about I took most of the better elements in that earlier shorter story, reworked and improved them, and incorporated them into Dark Web.

So if you start with that, you’ve got it all.

But naturally I can’t make things simple.

If you check, you’ll see I’ve also written two Net Force enovellas. They’re only available as ebooks. The first, EYE OF THE DRONE, came out after Dark Web, but is actually a prequel. The second, KILL CHAIN, came out before the new novel (THREAT POINT) and leads right into it chronologically.

Thus, the ideal reading order would be:

EYE OF THE DRONE
DARK WEB
ATTACK PROTOCOL
KILL CHAIN
THREAT POINT.

Hope you like ‘em and thanks for asking—Jerome(less)

Hi Austin,

Glad you like the books. The next full-length novel, THREAT POINT, will be out at the end of November. If you read ebooks, check out my Net Force novella, or short novel, KILL CHAIN, which will be available on May 25. It features Bryan Ferrago and Natasha Mori, characters who aren’t necessarily center stage in the longer stories, but for whom I have big future plans. Kill Chain is a little different from the novels but is one of my favorite NF yarns to date. It also leads directly into the next novel, though you don’t have to read one to enjoy the other.

There’s an earlier enovella, Eye of the Drone, that takes place a few months before Dark Web and is a kind of prequel, telling the story of a close encounter between Kali and Mike Carmody prior to the opening scene of DW.

So, there’s plenty to read! Thanks for your question and take care—Jp(less)

“it seems like there are ten lousy situations you can’t do anything about, for every one where you can make a difference, it’s all about putting your right foot forward, and just taking those small steps.”
Jerome Preisler, Shadow Watch

“Making decisions was for him an adaptive reflex, a coping mechanism that pressure only honed and energized, and he’d reacted to the news from Brazil as he would to any emergency, gathering whatever information was available, then digesting as much of it as circumstances allowed before settling upon a logical and systematic plan of action.”
Jerome Preisler, Shadow Watch
