Born in the South East and transplanted Oop North by her parents in 1987, Bec still sounds like she lives in the wilds of Surrey.

Then nothing happened to her until she met and fell in love with Neil.

Seriously. I mean, obviously, she went to school and had jobs and met some seriously awesome people but life didn't begin until she met, was friends with (for 4 years) and then got drunk with Neil. Then there was the moving in with him and his furry monster (Jack, a dog - get your mind out of the gutter); a proposal, an organising of a wedding; a wedding; a honeymoon in Mexico, and the marriage.

Bec now lives a deliriously happy life and is a writer.

Re-read: love the yearning, love the characters, love the love, love the rumblings of war, love the bitchy awfulness of greed, love the bits that make me think of the wider universe. 😘

I have felt every emotion I can think of reading this book. Joy, sobbing, rage, peace, wonder, and love.

My husband and I were holding hands while we listened (listen to the audiobook) with tears in our eyes, simultaneously yelling WTF and Holy sh*t!

I am so glad we got this story. I love love love the levels of responsibility and consent in Ali Hazelwood's stories. They are gloriously adult in the best ways. ...more
