The Coode Street Podcast

In early 2015, the weekly Coode Street Podcast, with myself and Jonathan Strahan discussing all sorts of matters related to science fiction and fantasy, moves to Tor.com, although the old link will continue to work:

On January 31st, we recorded Episode #219. Our guests for far in 2015 have included Guy Gavriel Kay, James Morrow, and Harlan Ellison .

Science Fiction lecture at Adler Planetarium

On Thursday, April 17, at 7:00 p.m. I’ll be giving a lecture at the Adler Planetarium called “From Pulps to Punks:  Seeing the World Through Science Fiction.  It’s part of their  “Geek Chic” event, which looks pretty interesting in other ways as well.

February 2014

My February column for the Chicago Tribune’s Printer’s Row literary magazine covers novels by Gene Wolfe, Ian McDonald, and Marcel Theroux.  And no, Gene and I are not relatives.

January events

January 2014:

I’ve begun a reviews column for the Chicago Tribune’s Printers Row literary magazine, where I discuss new science fiction books every few weeks.

Meanwhile, here’s my Locus review of Finnish author Leena Krohn’s strange novel Datura.

The Coode Street Podcast, in which I discuss science fiction and fantasy matters with award-winning editor and anthologist Jonathan Strahan, took a break over the holidays, but we’re back with Episode 175.

And finally I was interviewed by Amazing Stories magazine this month, talking about reading science fiction, reviewing, etc.
