Do not fret about the books being for children or adults - a good book is a good book. Period.

Give attention to language. Nothing spoils a reading like badly written text. It is like dressing up for stage or an important event. Well-written text connects with the reader more than anything else, even the plot.

Write. Write a lot. Don't ponder on your thoughts too much. Just get the thoughts on paper (or e-device). When done, read it aloud. Edit. Rewrite. Repeat.(less)
