Michael Roden is an independent researcher of Christian theology and history. His latest book, Being Gods: Christian Deification as Restoration of the Divine Nature examines the enormous role of deification in Christian theology. He argues that this overarching meaning of Christianity has been lost over the past few centuries, and this loss has steered Christianity away from its original mission as a means of deifying by eliciting the original divine nature. He supports his contention with scripture and elucidates it with extracanonical and patristic sources (especially Origen, Augustine, Hilary, Maximus, and Aquinas).
