“«Sei triste.»
«No, sono solo…» mi blocco, mordendomi la guancia. Ha ragione, però. Lo sono. «Delusa e triste.»
«Non mi piace.»
«Non ti piace?» ripeto, stupidamente.
«No, per nulla.» Mi passa un braccio intorno alla vita, prima di attirarmi a sé. «Ma possiamo rimediare.»
«Rimediare?» Sì, è definitivo. Sono diventata un pappagallo.
«Esatto.» Mi bacia la fronte e alza il volume della radio con la sua mano libera, prima di afferrare la mia. Fa un piccolo giro su sé stesso, portandomi con sé.
«Che diavolo stai facendo?» domando divertita.
«Non è chiaro?»
«Non avrei chiesto, altrimenti.»
«Stiamo ballando» risponde, prima di fare un altro movimento.
«Lo stiamo facendo?» Rido, quando mi fa girare su me stessa e vado quasi addosso al mobile della cucina.
«Ecco» mormora, prima di baciarmi sul naso. «Quello è proprio ciò che volevo vedere.»
«Cosa?»
«Il tuo sorriso.»”

“Sto per morire? Perché la sensazione è quella.
Il mio stomaco si annoda, un senso di nausea che mi invade, i polmoni che sembrano stringersi ogni secondo di più. Ho l’impressione di precipitare dentro un abisso di melma scura. E più cado, più tutto inizia a diventare familiare, come se avessi già vissuto una situazione del genere, e mi sento in trappola, impossibilitata a muovere braccia o gambe, imprigionata nella mia posizione. L’oscurità vortica intorno a me, provocandomi delle vertigini.
Non ho paura del buio. Come posso averne quando ne conosco per nome ogni sua singola sfaccettatura? Quello che mi spaventa sono le creature che vivono nell’oscurità. Ne sono attratte. Vi fanno il bagno. Vi si cibano. E colpiscono quando meno te l’aspetti, mentre tu giaci inerme alla loro mercé. Quindi, no, non ho paura del buio. È tutto il resto che mi spaventa a morte.”
