Tara’s Thoughts On: IdeaFirst’s Anino sa Likod ng Buwan

I watched #AninoSaLikodNgBuwan, a play based on a Jun Robles-Lana film of the same title, directed by Tuxqs Rutaquio. I came in not knowing anything about the story, just that the show was provocative and mindblowing. And Edward Benosa is part of the cast, so…what was I supposed to do, say no? 🤣 Set in the 1990s, Anino sa Likod ng Buwan features the complicated entanglements between a married couple, Emma and Nardo, (played by Elora Españo and Ross Pesigan) living in a remote province, and Joel ...

3 Takeaways from the Waiting in the Wings book tour

So… this is two months late, but I can’t not write about my amazing experience with Talk Bookish To Me, AKA the community of readers and content creators who organized the book tour for Waiting in the Wings. Yup, I had another book tour this year! (Check out my BookLoverTitas collaboration for Connect the Hearts~) I just figured that since I’m planning to release another book next year, I should reintroduce my backlist to new readers. So I reached out to Talk Bookish To Me for a collaboration, a...

Walang Aray is BACK! Here are 5 reasons why you should see it~

Mangingibigs, UNITE! In exactly five days, the PETA Theater Center will be opening its doors once again and welcoming us back with Walang Aray! A contemporary adaptation of Severino Reyes’ classic zarzuela Walang Sugat, the production returns with sharper satire, deeper emotional stakes, and bold new interpretations. Blending humor, romance, and political commentary, Walang Aray continues to resonate with audiences as it explores the intersection of love and resistance. Directed by Ian Segarra, ...

10 Takeaways from my decade in publishing

When I turned thirty (shit, I’m dating myself here, but what the heck), I wrote down a list of things I wanted to accomplish at thirty-three. One of them—and I declared this publicly on a Facebook post LOL—was to publish a book. Just ONE book. At that point, I’d had already worked at three companies and even tried my luck at making and selling clay accessories at bazaars. And although I still dabbled in writing KPop and Kdrama-inspired fanfic, I was so, so far away from my dream of becoming a sc...

Cover Reveal: Waiting in the Wings (special illustrated cover edition)

It’s here! It’s here! It’s heeeeeeere! It’s cover reveal day, folks—and YES, I know. I’ve done this before. For this very book, in fact. The beauty of being a self-published author, folks: You can do whatever you want with your book, just because. And because I met an artist whose work I really liked and I just really wanted an illustrated cover for Waiting in the Wings, I did exactly that. I wanted to capture a moment in the book that’s been sorta-kinda immortalized through a couple of live rea...

It’s Pio Season!

Hey guys, it’s Leo Season…but also PIO SEASON! Have you met my sweet, charming, flirtatious boy Pio Alvez? I heard he’s quite the ladies’ man, and he captures hearts just like that. Well, here’s your chance to meet him! Like Nobody’s Watching is on sale on Amazon for the whole month of August! It’s all fun and games until someone catches feelings. If there’s something Pio Alvez is good at, it’s pretending to be someone he’s not. On stage and on-screen, the actor has mastered the art of becoming ...

Waiting in the Wings is having a special illustrated cover!

For a few weeks now, I have been working on this special project with a local artist named rwiizo, whom I met at Komiket Market! Market! in May. I was browsing through the many stalls at the event and was instantly taken by his art style. I asked him if he was open to handling cover commissions, and he said yes, so I followed him on his IG account and had a look at his body of work while I decided which book I wanted him to sprinkle his magic on. And then I decided it should be Waiting in the Wi...

3 Takeaways from the Connect the Hearts blog tour!

So back in May, I sought the help of a wonderful group of bookish ladies who call themselves BookLoverTitas to organize a book tour for my latest release, Connect the Hearts. The tour ran from June 7 to 18, with 12 bookish titas participating, and they did such an amazing job. They kept me on my toes, anticipating their posts every day, and I loved that they enjoyed the book a lot. I’d been holding off on actually posting about this because we were supposed to have a face-to-face meetup last wee...
