Supposed to be Writing
This one'll be quick. I'm supposed to be revising. I'm watching Ray Donovan instead. That's all I've got. Send food, 'cause I can't stop watching......

A Summer of Change
August is a big month in my world. Lots of things happening and lots of hard but wonderful memories. This August, I decided to add a release to the mix, so look for Expectation to come out August 5th. This book is dedicated to the all the medical staff that kept me alive during my pregnancy nearly twelve years ago. Expectation weaves my pregnancy story in with the usual romantic flare and I hope you enjoy it. ARCs will be going out soon, so join my mailing list, or send me a message and I'll put you on my list!
I'm also spending the summer revising my first two releases, Blindsided and Ignite and adding a little something special for each of the revisions. Keep an eye out for those! Finally, August will see me start a new series in a completely different direction than I have headed in the past. I'm really excited to introduce to you to my new cast of characters and hopefully you'll love them as much as I do. Book 1 won't be out until Christmas, but it will be worth the wait! Think big city divorced, forty year old who heads back home to small town America after losing her cool on her cheating ex - and spent a little time in jail afterwards......She's sweet with a crazy streak of steel in her and he's a widower with a daughter looking for a wife for her dad......It's a romantic comedy about love after marriage, taking risks and finding home in the last place you ever wanted to look. Stay tuned via my newsletter and social media for sneak peeks!

Hello My Name Is....
Recently I was at an event and I had to fill in the classic, Hello My Name Is name tag sticker. It got me to thinking about authors and those that go by pen names instead of their real names. In my small local author group, so many of them have a couple of names, and some have more than that and often we laugh about how confusing it is to remember every one's name(s), especially since many are active on social media with their pen names.
I thought a lot on the matter when I first decided I was going to publish my books and decided to go non-traditional and use my actual name. I'm proud of what I've accomplished and love that my family shout it out, getting excited our family name is on my books. Just the other day, I went with my kids to the local library and while we were there, I slipped into the fiction section and found my books on the shelf. Pointing it out to my kids, my youngest daughter's reaction brought me to tears. "I'm so proud our name is on this book and anyone can come and read what you write, momma!" Followed up by a huge, affirming hug.
So, for my first blog post here at Goodreads, I'm saying hi! Hi, my name is Holly Mortimer and I'm excited to introduce you to my work and hope you enjoy it!
