Since the…moreFrom the time of the invention of the light bulb, till recently, we never realized that lighting regulates many of our biological functions. Since the discovery of a new photo sensor in our retina, in 2001, our understanding of the impact of light on our health has undergone a paradigm shift.

We realize now, that the previous lighting schemes with our limited understanding, has turned our days into night and our nights into day impacting our health adversely. Most of the lifestyle diseases prevalent today have a direct or indirect link to our poor exposure to light and dark cycle. But the lighting schemes in our homes and offices, still does not accommodate this new found understanding continuing to negatively affect our health at an imperceptible pace and intensity.

While reviewing my lighting consultancy business at the beginning of the sixth year, came across the need for a nobler “why?” from an inspiring speech from Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik. A book on healthy lighting of our homes seemed to be a faster and effective means to impact millions of lives positively.

Not a literary classic but will surely be a health classic!(less)
