Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

When Twilight series started to become a big hit, I was amazed of how much…moreI have always loved vampire stories. Lestat was my first fictional passion. When Twilight series started to become a big hit, I was amazed of how much people still loved these creatures. Also, I thought how funny it was to see them so well behaved, so different from the vampires that populated my imagination when I was a teenager.

I also started to compare this "vampire mania" with other religious manifestations. Specially here in Brazil, we are very superstitious. So, I wondered: "If someone can believe that a ghost is real, that they can talk with spirits, and can even start some religion about it, why can´t someone believe that vampires are real? What if I start to see my beloved ones that died as vampires?". I know why. People would certainly call me schizophrenic, for sure. :-) But the idea of a search for the truth, of someone trying to fit reason and the desire to believe in something completely outside the box inspired me to write "Some Other Dusk". This impossible romance, a comedy, about love and how hard it is to leave those we love go. To let death come into our lives.

Nicholas and Marcia are a special couple. Trying to solve their day to day problems, to live like every couple do. How to continue enjoying each other after a long time together, how to keep the fire in their marriage, how to continue seeing what made you fell in love even though you also change with time.

At the end, is death really what do us part? ;-)(less)

But essentially, at least with me, I get a block when the story is not going towards a good direction. Something is wrong with the character, he or she is doing something that doesn´t fit with his essence. Or the story moves to another road and I didn´t realize it yet.

The important thing is to keep remembering why you started to write that down. What did you wanted to tell? Who is the leading character and what does he or she wants the most in life? If you don´t much care where, like Alice´s cat said, "then it doesn´t matter which way to go".(less)
